Ok ive just ordered my bare bones system & ive got to fit the psu. I like a challenge but im also worried about what could go wrong

Ive heard you can end up frying your board if you get it wrong? My question how true is this? I mean isn't it like a jigsaw puzzle where you have several connectors & cant fit the wrong sized connector ?

I know about the static wrist band but how else could you fry your board short of doing something really dumb like stripping wires or taking apart the psu?

Solution
If you try to put an 8-pin CPU connector into an 8-pin GPU socket (or vice versa), that could go bang. They're keyed differently and labelled, but if you use enough force, they will fit.

That's the main one.

If you're using a floppy disk connector for anything (you probably aren't) and put it in the wrong way round or not aligned, bang again. Again, keyed, enough force.
