Hi folks, I was hoping that someone knowledgeable here could give me advice on upgrading my graphics card.

My computer is 4 years old with the following equipment:

OCZ ModXStream Pro Power Supply ? 600W
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H motherboard
Intel i5-3570K processor - 3.8ghz
ASUS Radeon HD 7770 DirectX 11 HD7770-2GD5 2GB
Kingston 8GB ram (4GBx2)
Kingston 240GB SSD
Windows 7

I would like to upgrade, and I am thinking about buying a MSI GeForce GTX 970 DirectX 12 GTX 970 GAMING 4G 4GB.

Specific games I am would like to be play are XCom 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Witcher 3, World of Warcraft Legion, Fallout 4, Titanfall, Just Cause 3, Shadow of Mordor, Skyrim

I was wondering if anyone who knows about this stuff could take a look and let me know if they see anything incompatible or anything else that desperately needs an upgrade, or if I would be better off spending my money on something else.

Edit: Oh, and I do not need to run games at 4k, I am not planning on getting a 4k display for some years, but I would like to be able to run top settings on 1080p.

Thanks!

Solution
Do NOT go for the 980Ti or the 980, you will be wasting money on both,
1) Ti is too much for 1080p
2) 980 is now absurd bang for the buck due to the Ti.

Get the 970, it is the perfect card for 1080p Gaming. You will be looking for around 55 FPS Average across the game on max settings (excluding Anti Aliasing cranked up)

If I were you I would wait until June/July to buy a new GPU. Supposedly Greenland/pascal cards will be coming out around that time. Even if you don't get the newest gen card the current gen will be cheaper.

true, to an extent... but waiting for something better in 6 months is a recipe for perpetual freezing in computers. There is ALWAYS something better coming in 6 months.
