i/o shield foam question asus

i built this rig a little after Christmas and i could not get the mobo to line up with standoffs with the foam so i removed the foam was i not supposed to do this? this computer has given me no problems at all i have been running games great and everything's working fine but now i am worried. i have a asus maximus viii hero motherboard. should i order a new motherboard and not remove the foam this time or will i be fine.

It really doesn't matter, you don't even have to use the shield. Normally, you do have to push the motherboard against the shield to align it with the standoffs properly. It doesn't exactly go on their like clean slate, it requires a bit of effort.

I know, you already said you removed the foam. As I said, it doesn't matter.

Its similar to my I/O shield. Mine has metal tabs that hold the board off the shield, I had to bend them all flat to make it work.

My old one had that, I, too, bent or broke them off. My current one was also a pain - way too much resistance against my motherboard. Took about 10 tries to get it aligned and it was just such a pain. I don't know why IO shields can't be made easier.

Mine wasn't that hard. Did take some effort to line everything up though. An IO shield integrated onto the motherboard itself would be much better.
