This is a build I worked up for my friend's new gaming pc. It's primary focus is high end gaming. Being able to run current gen games on the highest settings. Looking for a review before I buy these components. Making sure there are no bottlenecks or anything that is overkill.

Max budget would be $1,500 but the build here is currently $1,246

Should I upgrade the video card to a gtx 980ti, or 980? I've heard a lot of good things about gtx 970 but I have doubts about not going with a 980 or 980ti.

Is the CPU good enough for high end gaming? I keep hearing anything above this is overkill and wont make a big difference in gaming.

any other comments or suggestions would be great. Looking to buy within a few days.

Thanks

OK here is your answer. That CPU IS good for gaming. A good CPU for gaming is one that will not bottleneck your GPU and that one is definately not going to. It IS kind of overkill for gaming but if your budget allows for it then why the heck not. Yes if your budget allows do go for the 980ti as it is a much stronger card and will satisfy your gaming needs much more and in better quality. Not that the 970 is a bad card (i have one myself) it's just the 980ti is better. Don't go 980 though. The money per performance ratio on the 980 is bad. Meaning you give way too much money to upgrade to it for from the 970 but the gains are not as much as you'd expect with the money you spend.
