Hello,

A friend of mine owns a pre-built PC with a pretty solid CPU (from HP i think) who would like to get into PC gaming. I helped him purchase a GTX960, new PSU & computer case for his PC (full spec listed bellow). We took the "PC guts" out of his old computer case and put it in the new one. All the components from the old case were (presumably still are) working absolutely fine, but the PC is in a constant boot loop when turned on. Please see bellow for which computer parts are from the old PC case (parts from pre-build PC) and the newer parts that my friend and I are adding the PC system. Upon pushing the power button, the PC will turn on (all the fans in the case start to spin), and after a second or two the PC will turn off and the fans will stop. Then PC will turn back on again and the same thing happens again and again, until the power button on the front panel is held down for a few seconds to force the system to turn off. There is no output to the display which is connected to the motherboard DVI output, and no peripherals are plugged in. We have tested the new PSU (one of the newer parts with purchased and are adding) by connecting the green cable to a black ground cable on the 24-pin motherboard connector to trick the PSU to turning on (while disconnected from the rest of the PC) and the fan in the PSU spins continuously and operates as it should (see this video for source of PSU test:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co2RizQ8U2k). The only other pieces of hardware that have been changed/added are the case and GPU, so I think the GPU is the culprit here. Any ideas? Many thanks!

Full specifications:

From old pre-built PC (all worked fine before adding new hardware):

CPU: i7-4770
Motherboard: Pegatron IPM87-MP (http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/pegatron-ipm87-mp-specs-motherboard-7252012h78/)
HDD: Generic 1TB hard drive (do not know name or brand, sorry)
Optical Drive: Generic optic drive/DVD drive
RAM: 8GB of DDR3 RAM (again do not know brand or name, sorry :p)

New hardware:

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 960 4GD5T OC 4GB
Case: DIYPC Zondda-O Black
PSU: Corsair CX series CX500M 500W 80 plus bronze

NOTE: The old case and power supply from pre-built PC are not being used.

Again, any help/ideas are much appreciated!

Thank you for your replies guys. I have not tried any of these things that you have suggested. I will be sure to do so when I get a chance. I will get back to this post with updates on how it all goes. I will also try booting up the PC without the new GPU to see how that goes.

Andrei, there is no beep code unfortunately. I do not think the PC stay on long enough to give a beep code anyway :/
