In a tough position.

My GPU went out years back and to date, I am running a PC without a GPU.
One of my friends gave me a MSI GTX 580 Twinfrozer (N580GTX Lightning XE) and after only receiving it I noticed that it requires 2 x 8 Pin power connectors.

My PSU, however, is a Seasonic M12 II Bronze 620W and has 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 (6+2) pin PCI-E power cables.

Would just plugging in both be suffice?
What are my options?

Edit - I do have few Molex->6 pin converters laying around as well.

Second Edit - If by some miracle i find a 6-->8Pin converter, would it be workable with the current setup ?

- I have no way of acquiring a Molex ->8 pin or 6->8 pin converter.(Ordered 2 about 4 months ago, never arrived. Never will. Locally unavailable.)
- I have no way of acquiring a new PSU.
- I cannot afford any HW new because my entire family income is limited to 100$+- a month.

To put into perspective, I was sent a GPU (GTX 560) via registered post from USA (last year oct) and it never arrived. Everything gets stolen unless DHL or similar is used.

My Hardware are as follows -
Core i7 2600K (stock) on Asus P8Z68-VLX
8GB GSkill 1600Mhz Kit
1x 1 TB HDD 1x OCZ Agility 60GB SSD
CM - EVO212 Cooler
Razer Deathadder - Razer Megalodon Headset - Logitech Controller

Help. . . :s

Solution
I would try it with the 8 and the 6. The gauge of the cables will be fine being a seasonic PSU, hopefully the graphics card wont mind not having the other two pins.

Thank you.
Yeah I am aware of the watt difference between 6 and 8 pin connectors but, however, i am bit worried about the power consumption because my PSU is 620W and card requires 550-600W on normal usage while its about 380W on full load according to sites.

Just assessing the risk of blowing everything up if it doesn't get enough power through the cables (12v amps) .

I do have a Molex->6 pin converter(s) laying around, would it be safe to plug the single 8pin and one molex converted 6pin connector without actually plugging in the 6pin that comes directly from the PSU. Would it make a difference ?

Given that your situation apparently makes it difficult for you to obtain a new PSU, I would absolutely want to avoid a situation in which the damage to your PC could be even more expensive.

Based on the facts you've presented, your best option is to probably sell the used 580 and use those funds to either purchase a lower-power used card or a weaker new card. I would absolutely not be playing with molex and various adapters in a situation in which I can't replace the PSU and possibly more in the worst-case scenario.

Selling is quite impossible at this stage because in my country every card is about 100-200$+ expensive than US store price .

However by some miracle if I find a 6->8 Pin converter, would it still be safe to run the card with the current set up ?
