My computer ( self-builded with old parts ) doesn't work anymore it worked fine for 2 weeks till i wanted to change my 200MB RAM to a 8GB it starts up and shuts than down and starting again up than u hear 1 short beep than 2 long beeps the computer is staying on but no screen :(, is it the RAM slot or the RAM itself??, now i tryed to put the old ones back but it didn't work in the 2 slots are the 2 slots at the same time death??? or is it the ram? please help me i need to play some oldskool games on my pc!

( i'm a beginner )
Specs:
Processor: 2,4ghz intel quad core
Motherboard: HP/COMPAQ RAPTOR 289767-001 MSI MS-6541 P4 SOCKET-478 AUDIO
PSU: 250Watt Compaq
VideoCard: None
RAM: 128MB, DDR, 266MHz (2x) Compaq

Solution
Thanks.

That motherboard only supports 2GB RAM maximum, so you cannot increase the amount of RAM above 2GB anyway.

If it will no longer boot with the original 2GB RAM, check that it's fully inserted in to the slots properly.

If still it will not boot, ESD (Electro Static Discharge) may have damaged the two RAM modules if you touched them without first touching some bare metal inside the PC to get rid of static electricity in your body.

No, i thought it was fixed... it wasn't, i think the slots are dead because i tryed the ram on another motherboard and it works fine! it worked for a few minutes on the Compaq one.....
