Hello guys, I am not sure where I should put this thread, but the problem is quite complicated.

I have a laptop, with I-B690 Dual core cpu, and Inter HD Graphics video card , with 2 GB Ram.

I've been facing a problem before 5 months, whenever I turn on my pc it goes super slow (extremely slow startup, laggy windows logo, slow fade effects in 'Welcome screen', laggy videos and audios, ultra slow software programs such as chrome..etc), and I thought it's due to some corruption in the CPU.

A small period after that, I lost my internet connection at home, so my laptop was totally offline for 4 months and it got automatically fixed. Until now, when I gott my internet connection and after connecting to the network through the WiFi, the laptop's got super slow again...

I am sure if I go offline for weeks again, it'll be fixed automatically, but I don't want that,

what's the relationship between the internet connection and pc slow speed ?!

Thank you.

A computer becomes slow if kept offline for extended periods of time because of the Updates it's trying to catch up on and install as well as the misc. background jobs it has to do. So that's actually normal. I tell people they should allow their computer to stay on at least an hour without using it... every so often if they don't use it on a daily basis.

Now, as to general slowdown & slow startup... Two things can cause that. Either lots of programs set to startup with Windows... or tons of tracking cookies from websites you visited over time.

The best way to get rid of the tracking cookies is to install Superantispyware FREE Edition. That's what I use

To manage startup.. just install a startup manager and uncheck items you...

To manage startup.. just install a startup manager and uncheck items you don't need to startup on boot all the time. A good FREE one is Autoruns.

Last but not least... Anti-Virus programs are also a HUGE reason for computer lag. People don't realize that an AV program written today was not really meant to run on a system from 5-10 years ago. I've seen that... and it's not a pretty sight. If you don't have at least 4GB of RAM... expect to have serious lag.

LOL... I completely forgot the ram SBM..... You're absolutely right.

Anyways, he should do a clean install on his Laptop to be sure it's ok, and everything will be ok then, that's what i think atleast...

I have two laptops, both have the same hardware (every thing!) , just the model is not alike, (Lenovo and HP)
It seems like Lenovo has a better cooling fan tech, and it does not face such slow-down problem.

Now don't get me wrong, the laptop becomes ok when it GOES offline... And I really exhaust the PC with every single kind of heavy tasks (such as encoding blurays , but the CPU does a good job, although the laptop goes off cuz of temp often)
the problem first appeared when i went online, (after hours of utilizing it), and yes, if i go offline again, the problem may be fixed, but i can't do that, the problem will just pop up again if i go online.

I am using the Kaspersky antivirus, (I was using Avast), but with or without the anti-virus, the problem remains.

Note that sometimes I used TuneUp Utilities and the computer suddenly became good (Unlike the case when I used Advanced Systemcare, it did nothing), but I lost the trial period (it expired)...

What is it that could cause such problem ? I tried cleaning my cookies by Ccleaner, but maybe Ccleaner does not clean them ?
And maybe there is something that TuneUp Utilities cleaned so my pc is awesome again?

I have 2 GB Ram, and as I said, the Lenovo PC with the same portion of RAM does NOT get slowed down. That's the mystery.

I removed every single program from the startup queue. In fact, the programs don't get launched among the Windows Logo thing , afaik.

The slow-down problem starts from the very beginning of booting the PC (Slow Trademark screen, Long Blank Screen, then the Windows logo takes minutes, then the slide effects - i mean fading - of the desktop are very very slow as well as every single video or audio.)

I am going to try to clean everything that the internet left behind, but however, this is not solved yet, thank you both anyways :D.

NOTE :
I didn't download anything though.
I didn't watch any video or accepted any ad.
The Lenovo PC is not mine anyways (brother's) so I'd like to stick to my PC.

Thank you very much again.
