Hey guys!

I am currently in the works for a solid workstation/gaming rig for around $1400 CAD (not USD). My 4720HQ laptop can no longer handle the torture I have been tossing at it and it is time for a serious upgrade!!!

My current load of programs that I am using are: AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Maya, Solidworks, CS6 and Visual Studio. I am simultaneously running at least 3 or 4 of these programs along with several tabs of chrome. I also am planning on doing some light gaming such as Diablo and some FPS.. I also will be driving at least 2 to 3 monitors so graphics horsepower is a must on top of processor horsepower.

Now off to my problem...............

I am in the biggest pickle ever. I literally do not know where to start with this build, or even which parts I need to use to accomplish this goal of mine.. All I know is that I would like something lightning fast and buttery smooth on top of something that will last me at least half a decade. As a broke college student I am only able to dish out $1400 CAD (about 1k USD).

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!1!!!!!!!!!!!111

P.S: Budget does not include peripherals or software as I already have them.

Okay, here are two builds. I chose the AMD CPU for their multi-core performance while keeping the price down. Lots of ram, you need it for 3D, amount is more important than speed. I chose the GTX 960 over the 380 as I have most seen people prefering Nvidia over AMD for video editing/3D animation. Boy prices in Canada have jumped since the exchange rate has fallen (I am Canadian too).
