I have a linksys router with a netgear powerline going from it to my desktop. My internet works fine most of the time but randomly I will get DNS probe started and DNS probe finished no internet and when i go to troubleshoot and repair and try repairs as admin it will say one or more protocols are missing on this computer. I have tried multiple things i have found searching these errors such as flushing DNS and changing to an open DNS.

On a side note when it says the protocols are missing it also says a ethernet cable may be unplugged or broken or something but all the cables are plugged in and fine, as I said the internet works majority of the time.

The cables may be plugged in and fine - or at least appear to be so.

Start by swapping out the cables one at a time with a known working cable.

Make sure that the powerline adapters are secure in the outlets.

Were you able to see what protocols are missing? Run the network troubleshooters and look at the fixed or failed "Detailed Results".

Also you can go into the Event Viewer logs on the computer to look for warnings and errors. Router logs may provide some insight as well.

Intermittent connetion problems can be hard to diagnoise so have some patience and go slowly and methodically as you can.
