My computer keeps crashing to a black screen when playing games, but only when it is under stress i.e. on high game settings.
What happens is the screen goes black and the display says it is receiving no signal. The sound continues for two seconds then also cuts off. The computer is still on and I can hear all the components running.
I have done a CPU stress test and this does not cause crashing so I can only assume the CPU is fine.
However when I run a GPU stress test (FurMark) the screen instantly goes black but I can still hear the fan of the graphics card running. I have looked at the voltages and temperatures etc. in HWINFO and I cant see anything obviously wrong.
The GPU I have is a GTX 970 and it was only at around 50 degrees C at the points of crash.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I don't have an answer to this problem but i have exactly the same issue.

Specs.
Seagate 2TB SATA HDD
Crucial 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800
Cooler Master V650S
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5
Crucial MX100, 256GB
Intel i5-4690K
Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5

I also did a cpu test which seemed to be fine. Memory test did not show any faults. I've been able to do some 30 min furmark tests but most of them resulted in a black screen as discribed. 3dmark (the spy one) can not finish before it black screens.

I hope you can help us both.
