Why does my NTFS 500GB USB 3.0 HDD not work with my Samsung Bluray Player when my 1tb NTFS HDD did?

So here is the story...

I've recently upgraded my PS4 HDD to a 2tb...specifically the Seagate Backup Plus Slim HDD that is actually the Samsung M9T internal drive just inside a caddy. Anyway I then decided to repurpose the PS4 500GB as an external drive by putting it into the caddy.

Before I go on, a quick factual note needed for you all, I have a Samsung Bluray Player which has had my Samsung M8 1tb plugged into it (formatted as NTFS) and has been playing media without any problems and prior to that has has a WD Passport 320GB (formatted as FAT32) connected to it with also no problems.

I've reformatted the 500GB in the caddy to NTFS (full format not quick format) and the Bluray player does not recognise it and then I tried to format as FAT32 and the Bluray player still doesn't recognise it. Now the interesting thing is that my Samsung television recognises it as a HDD when it is formatted to a NTFS drive but it doesn't display the reformatted name that I've given it...it displays it as "BACKUP +" which o find a bit baffling seeing as the drive in the caddy has no ties to a seagate backup plus drive as it was the original drive of the PS4.

Anyway my limited knowledge of this all has now been fully spent so if anyone could answer this one that would be great! Cheers all :)

Oh and it's worth noting that at current I have a FAT32 flash drive in the Bluray that's working so I can't believe the idea that my Bluray Player only recognises certain formats.

Well from initial glances it seems like it's single partition, can't find any evidence of another partition on the drive itself.
