Hi, I built my first PC around Christmas and it was all running smooth until around 2 weeks ago when the PC switched off and wouldnt power back on. I opened the case and saw that the 24 pin plug into the motherboard had come loose so I reconnected it and made sure it was clipped in. Everything worked fine from then until today. Just before I was playing CIV 5 with a friend and had been on the PC for around 5 hours when suddenly the screen went black then said 'cable not connected' and then a few seconds later the PC started up again. Is there any reason that this could happen? I don't think it was overheating and I checked all the wires and they're all in fine.
Specs:
CPU: Intel-I5 4460
GPU: Evga GTX 970
MOBO: Gigabyte Z97P-D3
PSU: Corsair CX600
RAM:HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1866MHz

I checked the windows log and there was a 'warning' just before my PC shut down with the source 'MsiInstaller' and event ID 1032 if anybody knows what this means and if this is the problem?
Thanks

Have you made sure your BIOS and device drivers are up to date? You may want to uninstall the GPU drivers for the GTX970 using display driver uninstaller and reinstall using the latest drivers off Nvidia's site. You didn't include the OS n which your system is working off. BY any chance are you on Windows 10? If so then stop your automatic device driver update feature.

I'd also ask you to keep a close eye on your GPU/PSU should this happen again without any error messages from your OS as that could be potentially harmful for the GPU if the PSU craps out.
