Hi guys!

I know this has been discussed at length, I have read many forums surrounding this issue. Just can't find a solution.

I recently purchased a Sapphire R9 380 4GB and after installing can not get passed post, ie black screen/no signal. The PCIe port works, as my previous card (GTX 460SE) when reinstalled works fine. I have tried having the new card in, and monitor plugged in to MB, still no signal. However when I take the R9 out the MB output works fine. I have changed BIOS to use the PCIe slot as default. I have upgraded BIOS to the latest version and restored defaults. I have tested the R9 in another computer with basically the same hardware as mine (mainly a slightly different MB) - which worked, however it started with a multi coloured blocky screen before displaying the BIOS screen..

I'm leaning toward the MB being incompatible (even though according to the manual I see no issues) or the PSU not having enough power. I don't believe the card is faulty as it did work (just weird about the multi coloured start screen) in another system..

Any insight would be amazing! Jordan

SOLUTION! For anyone who may have the same issue, the solution was ridiculously simple! After contacting Sapphire directly, turns out this model has a little (very little!) switch on the board to change BIOS compatibility - between Legacy and UEFI. Mine had somehow came out switched to Legacy. Insane. So a flick of the switch and it fired up like normal :)

Thanks for the quick reply. As I understand it, these drivers would not stop the new GPU from at least starting and showing the BIOS screen. The issue is happening before these drivers are loaded. However I did use this method to remove any old Nvidia drivers before swapping the cards.

Thanks I will double check everything. Although the old card works in the same PCIe slot, with the same power plugs so at least those two can be eliminated as the problem.
