What is causing my BSOD?

Hello,
Currently I get a BSOD when playing Killing Floor 2 for about 90+ mins, and this has happened twice in the past week.

I'm guessing it might have something to do with my CPU: an AMD FX 8350 which I've overclocked to 4.4ghz with my Corsair H80i GT cooler. I have an Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard and 850 psu but I do NOT have the extra 8pin ATX cable that the motherboard has a slot for (which I understand is for CPU power stability).

Upon using 'WhoCrashed' my BSOD says that it was probably caused by 'ntoskrnl.exe' [This is the case for both bluescreens, as this is the 2nd time it's started to happen]. I thought that maybe it was my ram [Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600mhz - which was set to 1438mhz or so because when I was overclocking my cpu, the ram frequency was getting overclocked as well; so it was either 1700mhz or 1438mhz]. It did BSOD when I had the ram set to 1700 mhz (or the DRAM frequency was around 850mhz according to cpu-z), but after setting it back to about 1438mhz, it still BSOD'd.

I'm not sure if I can export my dump files from WhoCrashed since I have the free version, but here's some info from my BSOD:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Filename:
C:\Windows\Minidump\012916-9640-01.dmp

BugCheck name:
REFERENCE_BY_POINTER

BugCheck Code:
0x18

Parameter 1:
0x0

Parameter 2:
0xFFFFFA8010997940

Parameter 3:
0x2

Parameter 4:
0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFE

Probably Caused By:
ntoskrnl.exe

Build:
7601 Service Pack 1

Architecture:
x64(64 bit)
-----------------------------------------------------------

If I can provide any other details that might help analyze the BSOD (I can't screencap the BSOD itself because it's on the screen for a split second) let me know. Otherwise, here are my specs:

Mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard
CPU: AMD FX 8350 [OC'd to 4.4ghz]
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i GT cpu cooler
GPU: XFX R9 290x 4gb
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600mhz
HDD: WD Caviar Black 2TB HDD
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250gb SSD
PSU: Corsair TX850watt PSU

Solution
Ah, ntoskrnl.exe fault, most general BSOD explanation MS could find, could mean practically anything ! Yet mostly caused by CPU or memory. Why don't you get adapter for that 8 pin connector first ? It's specially important when overclocking.

What type of adapter would I be looking for? Something to convert pci-e cables or somethin? Because I'm not sure if my psu even has another 4pin atx cable. I believe that it only has one single 4pin atx connector.

Edit: Do you mean something like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/akasa-AK-CB051-PCIe-ATX-adapter/dp/B0027FFRQI Because I definitely have several spare pci-e cables that are just sitting around in my case.

That thing from newegg is out of stock, but it probably looks like the best bet for me, since the Startek thing from amazonUK requires a 4pin cable (which I only have 1 and it's already plugged into my mobo). Same thing for that Akasa power adapter - I've only got one single 4pin atx power cable.

Guess I'll wait until that item from Newegg comes back in stock, unless the Startech adapter works with only that peripheral connector.

Well I did get it back in 2010 so that could be why haha. I should get a modular psu sometime this year though. Something with more atx connectors and such.
