Will the i5 4690k work on Asus B85M-E Mobo ??

i'm planning to get i5 4690k and the asus B85m-e << a friend suggested it , but will the cpu work on it ?

It'll work but a if you are getting a 'k' series CPU always go with a z97 based chipset board, which can overclock the CPU, else getting a non 'k' CPU is advised.

Yes, but it wont be overclockable which is usually why people spend extra on the unlocked k cpus. To overclock you need a z87 or z97 board. If you are getting a b85 board then you should save some money and get a non k cpu.
