I have an AMD FX-6300 and am waiting for a new cooler to arrive because AMD's stock coolers don't exactly do a great job.

I was wondering if I could just use nail polish remover to remove it as I don't have direct access to rubbing alcohol.

The remover contains; Acetone, Aqua and Glycerine.

Thanks for any help

Solution
No.

The point is to leave no residue. Glycerine has a very high vapor pressure and will remain on the surface after the acetone and water have evaporated.

Rubbing alcohol is iso-propanol, so may be found under that name.
It will work as long as you use a lint free cloth to wipe all residues before installing the new cooler. Because it contains acetone, make sure none is dropped on the motherboard. Since rubbing alcohol is available almost everywhere, you should consider getting a bottle.

I live in the UK, however, my age is the reason I said I didn't have direct access as I am not sure they'll sell it to me.
