Before i start,i know that painting the heatsink of my ram will increase its temperature but i have heard many people saying the ram doesn't even need the heatsink so i chose to paint it. The only thing i am not sure about is removing and then re-applying the heatsinks.I have seen some guides in youtube but i am still not sure how to do it.Do i have to apply any kind of thermal paste before re-applying or i should apply it as it is?Thanks in advance.

do you mean heat sleeve? if it's a metal casing around the module it's there because the RAM gets really hot. I have 8GB RAM sticks without heat sleeves that don't get hot at all. If the manufacturer put one on its best to keep it there. Also why do you need to paint it? If you want to paint it I'm sure you'll need a special kind of paint too.

I think its called both ways but its mostly for looks not for actual cooling because ram doesn't get too hot unless you rise its voltage or oc .I need to paint it because i have just updated my rig to black and white theme and my ram is red and i don't want to spend more money just to get the same thing. The paint it need just has to be heat resistant like the one for car exhausts etc.
