I just finished building my new pc and I am trying to install windows 10 on to it with a usb. Everything is fine until after I enter my code.

"The computer started using Windows Installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. [DO not select !custom [advanced] to perform an upgrade. !custom advance installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings/

I took apart my old comp to try and hook up the optic drive so i can load up the disc that came with my motherboard to try and update my bios but i don't see anywhere to connect it to my motherboard

Solution
After installing the OS, the USB drive should be removed or change the drive that already has Windows 10 installed and bootable to the highest priority, not the usb drive containing bootable Windows 10 image.
You can download all drivers from motherbard manufacturers web site.
And why do you need a BIOS update? Something is not working, or what?

And your optic drive is propably some old PATA device. Modern motherboards don't have that interface anymore.
If you realy need an optic drive, you'll have to get a new one with SATA interface.

The installation media refers to whatever "media" is used to install Windows. If you use a USB drive, remove it after that part is completed If you use a disc, remove the disc instead of the optical drive unless you don't need the optical drive either. You could also change the boot priority and set the boot drive to the hard drive or ssd that has newly installed Windows in it.

If you can't see anywhere to connect the optical drive to the motherboard, it's probably it uses the old ATA connector that's flat the wide unlike SATA.

Ultimately had to reformat my HDD and move the operating system from my SSD to my HDD but that let it recognize windows 10 as a prior os which then allowed me to activate my code.... atlas I think thats what happened
