So I came home from school the other day and I found my sister holding my cpu (i7 2600, not the K edition)... She's nine and decided it would be fun to play inside my computer, now my computer turns on for a little while and then shuts down... She told me what she did which was:
-rub her fingers on components around the cpu
-rub her fingers on pins on the motherboard
-rub her fingers on the cpu
-dropped the cpu

I have honestly never touched the cpu cause I didn't trust myself so I put it in wrong once and the also put it in once where the holder wasn't on properly. there was also dust in the socket

My question is there a chance that the cpu/motherboard isn't broken and how do I actually check it for damage?

She managed to open the PC, remove the CPU cooler, unlock the CPU holder, and take out the CPU? That's impressive.

CPU's are quite sensitive to damage, so if she dropped it look at the allignment of the pins and see if all of them are straight. If they're not you can re-straighten the pins very carefully using a knife blade. However you have to look if the pins on your motherboard are all still in-tact and straighten aswell.
