Looking for a $1000 gaming PC to last through summer of 2018 about.

So I am looking into a $1000 PC build that will be able to handle new games through Aug. 2018 on about medium settings 1080p (900p if i have to is fine). If I can I would like an SSD, the budget I'm on can go a little over. I'm looking mainly for a good GPU choice and when to buy it. If this isn't possible, let me know what would be the best for what I want. Thanks again! (I already have the OS and peripherals under control incl. thermal paste)

This build should be fine for the next 5 years to boot. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3ktLt6 Went with sandisk SSD instead of samsung because of higher capacities and less cost. Samsung SSDs are great, but sandisk offers quite a competitive GB/$ Ratio.

Actually, you may want to go for the 6500 if you can. I just realized that i5 6400 is 2.7 ghz, so you may want to go for the 6500 instead. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r69wNG

Also, is the GPU you picked any different from the last one since it is from EVGA?

Almost forgot, if I want to put in DVDs and stuff, should I just pick up an optical drive for like $20? This is my first new build btw lol

Not at all, I just swapped the two out since I noticed the EVGA unit was less expensive.
