3tb hdd shows up in manager but not my computer

hey I have a 3tb western digital my book and it stopped working a while back and ended up getting reformatted. I have since downloaded some software to extract the data off of it even though it was deleted.
My problem is though that the hdd wont show up in my computer it shows up in device manager. Ive read a few things sayin to give it a drive letter and what not but I cant. In disk management I see this for that hdd:

Disk 2
Basic
2794.49gb
online
2048.00 gb
Healthy (GPT protective partition)
746.49 gb
unallocated

Right clicking on either of this partitions is all greyed out except the unallocated I can choose properties, any way of being able to get this sorted so I can get my files off....

Hi

First test disk for hardware faults

both Western Digital & Seagate produce windows software to test for bad sectors etc

If it passes hardware test see if latest version of Testdisk
from cgsecurity.org can find and rebuild partition data

or photorec(overy) can scan the raw hard disk for data files

If there are hardware faults and important data on the disk probably best to go to a data recovery company

It may be a bad USB to SATA interface but with some modern USB drives the USB to SATA bridge chip is integrated into the hard disk controller circuit board so cant be replaced seperately

I'll Give that a try when I get home thanks, just to note as well I took the hdd out of the case so it's a Sata connection now

If it was in an enclosure programs like Acronis or whatever program you installed for backup (if you installed one) can and will install their own drivers and stop it from working

You can see if this is the cause by dbl clicking on the hdd entry in device manager and going to details tab. Change it to class lower filters and class upper filters.

The only entries that should be here are ehstorclass and partmgr. If there are any other entries here like snapman, thats whats stopping it from working in the enclosure

If snapman or something else appears here, you have to go into registry and delete their entries under the lower and upper filter entries

when I did that no its hooked up via sata right now, currently running the test from WD to see if it passes hardware wise I guess

extended test on lifeguard diagnostics form WD 2 hours 24min and apparently 1063622:32:52 left for time and on wondershare data recovery been going 2 and a half hours nothing its at 0%.... so am I screwed
