Hello all, since im a noob, i hadnt realized my mobo doesnt have enough fan headers, so upon some research ive figured out that i need either
a) fan splitter or
b) 3 pin to molex adapter

Now im leaning towards just plugging the fans to the psu, however i understand that they will be running at max speed, aside from the sound it generates, is this bad?

Also, im wondering if i get a fan splitter, will that mean the fans will be controlled in terms of speed like they normally should?

Many thanks, pardon my noobism.

Yes, the fan will run at full speed all the time when connected direct to the PSU. No, that will not hurt anything.

If the fan header is controllable in BIOS now, then both fans on the splitter will be controllable also. It is best to try to match the 2 fans if possible. When using a splitter, it is best to use one like this with the tach pin missing from one connector. That way only one fan will report RPM, keeping from confusing the BIOS. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812162026

If both fans are identical, you can assume both are running at the reported RPM, even tho only one is reporting.
