Can I do a small/mild overclock on my gtx 470 so it won't increase the psu requirement?

Hello everyone,
I need some help doing a mild overclock on my gtx 470 on a 550w psu. I was wondering if only a small overclock will increase power but not by much to make a big impact on breaking my Seasonic S12G-550. It says on their website that the minimum psu requirement is 550W which is what I have, so would I be able to mildly overclock it and by how much? Thankyou

Solution
Nope, you have a very good PSU, the 550W is a massive overstatement, my 470 + everything else used to pull aboiut 350W from the wall peak, so you've plenty of room. They have to account for very poor PSU's.

You could probably overclock as much as the card can handle. And if the powersupply for whatever reason cannot handle it your PC will probably power off, or just stop outputting video (if the OC is too high)

So just play around a bit and find out what is a stable overclock.

So it wouldn't damage the psu if i do a stable and small overclock? Also, how come on their website the minimum psu requirement is 550w? Does that mean I can't overclock or I can just mildly? Thankyou for answering!

Thankyou so much, i overclocked my gtx 470 to 700mhz and shaders up and so is the memory clock. I was wondering if i have to increase the voltage and if i could do any higher overclocking without pulling more than 550w. Thankyou.
