Hey Guys -

Even though a full sized case, my system is packed full of hardware which includes all the normal stuff plus x10 standard drives, x2 SSDs, and a GTX 970 video card. When one of the 3 120mm fans I have went out (got noisy) last night, I decided to post to see what everyone suggested be the best and most quiet solution to cool it before simply replacing it.

Below is a picture of my system showing the x3 120mm fans I have in it now plus the direction each flows. There's one 120mm in the upper rear (which went out) blowing inward, one at the top towards the rear pulling out, and one in the lower front pulling in.

The top and rear ones are plugged into the MB therefore controlled while the front lower one is plugged directly into molex. All drives are mounted towards the front as you can see somewhat. Their current temperatures range between 89 - 98.6 degrees F.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

This should solve both your problems.

Note in the pictures their showing the drive cages already have the mod they made on this site to hold 11 regular hard drives so 10 and 2 SSD's should be no problem although it does not have a slot for a optical drive, so if you need one of those you would need to buy a external one. that case would also clear up your rats nest of cables. Comes with 3 X 120mm front fans and one rear 140mm fan.

For overclocking the processor this should get you into the 4.3 area with still good temps, with no clearance issues...
Hello... 1) PS fan? Air direction out?
2) What hardware Temps are you concerned the most about?
3) I will typically build having rear case fan air direction out. Top and rear fan out and front in... But with all those platter drives in front, makes a WALL of heat at the front... and a UN-BLOCKED side case fan would bring cooler air into the case. B )

Thanks Guys -

THe case I'm using is the USB 3.0 version of the Rosewill CHALLENGER which I bought back in 2013. I found out that it's still being sold and here's a link to it on NewEgg. I'm not trying to focus on one particular thing being colled to a certain degree - just that everything is all around the best it can be. I do plan on overclocking my CPU (as of this morning) so I'm sure that will change things. I doubt I'll cool it with liquid as I don't think I have room for it unless someone suggests otherwise and that it would be worth it.

One more note is that I did recently replace the stock fan in the front, but only with a plain jane 120mm of the same size. w/o LED.

Thanks!

Here is a pick of the R1 cooler in my case note you can see all 4 memory slots, the H5 is a good cooler and much smaller.
