Don't know what cpu to get for gaming server

Me and my friend are building a gaming server that's only ever gonna have less than 10 people on it at any given time(its for our small group of friends) and probably minecraft, ark survival evolved, and an arma 3 server up at the same time. We couldn't decide on a cpu, and my knowledge for cpus only covers gaming. If anyone could recommend a good cpu for this thats 300 dollars or less we'd be greatful.

The AMD 's. 8000 or 9000 's series should be great, as they have 8 cores each.

Of course, I'd add a better cpu cooler than stock, something like a cryorig h7. It'll work well keeping the cpu cooler than the stock unit with the added benefit of much quieter operation. Still under the $300 budget. Also the H7 has little or no issue with just about every case, being only 145mm tall.

That seems to be a Xeon without HT.

It's for a server with 10 isp. A quad core will handle that just fine.

The E3 1231 v3 having HT, 8 thread is $30 more, putting it right at $300 total so no allowances for a decent aftermarket cooler.

Stock coolers really aren't all that bad, specially if it's on a low power server CPU like the xeons.

True, for 24/7 cooling they'll be ok for temps, I just prefer not to have to listen to them
