My build is;

I have it locked around 60 that drops a bit because vsync and all, but I'm looking to get a higher fps as to not notice the drops too hard when it decides to shat on me

Have you tried disabling Vsync? Even though Vsync will eliminate tearing I find some games don't really behave that well with it on-Ryse for example will run at about 70+fps maxed out but when I enable Vsync at times it wilp be a stutter fest that will drop to the low 20s for some reason

I've tried but i get this weird tearing, I can get a cool 100-200+ fps with it off. You maybe think that if I get a 144hz monitor and vsync my game, it'd allow me to have a good fps and no tearing?

What do you mean by checking my GPU and CPU, if you don't mind me asking? and my temps don't get very high. around the 30's, 40's at the most, right now its 38 degrees.

Totally depends, in league my game tells me im getting 270 fps on my 970m. But if you have a 60 hz monitor it's capped to 60 and wont go any higher if Vsync is enabled.

Sorry I should of explained. Check your CPU and GPU usage % using a program like the MSI Afterburner overlay. This will allow you to monitor how much use your CPU and GPU are having while playing.

If you are using V-Sync then your framerate won't exceed the refresh rate of your monitor (most are 60Hz = 60FPS). Turning off V-Sync WILL cause screen tearing if the framerate exceeds the refresh rate of the monitor. That's the whole point of V-Sync, to stop tearing.

You really shouldn't be getting drops below 60 FPS on that hardware unless there's throttling (your CPU/GPU underclock if they are getting too hot under strain). So when you DO get those drops, check your CPU and GPU usage % and temperatures. They might not get hot while idle, but overheat under strain.

I think part of the issue is you're confusing fps with performance. Yep getting 200+ fps is nice as a confidence booster but as others have said it doesn't really matter if your monitor can't display it. I'm sure you know this already but a monitor's refresh rate is how many fps it can display putting it simply-60hz=60fps, 75hz=75fps and so on.

I know that vsync can have its fair share of issues at times but unless the game for some reason behaves terribly I always leave it on-I don't see the point of pushing my system any harder than what it needs to if I can't see the difference anyway.

Now as to whether you should get a 144hz monitor - it's honestly up to you. I have never seen one irl so I can't give you an objective opinion. There's people that swear that once you try 144hz going back to 60hz will feel stuttery and slow, then there's others that say there's not much of a noticeable difference.

I believe 144 hz makes the picture looks clearer as well as smoother.
