I am not the most tech savy person out there so bear with me. :)

My new PC build is experiencing issues. A potential solution from another thread is that my Motherboard's drivers may be outdated.

When installing the Motherboard it came with a disk. I insatlled the drivers which were offered up to me but the person helping me in the other thread thinks these drivers may be outdated.

This person also told me to check if my BIOS is up to date. As for this I have no idea if it is or is not.

Anyways here is my Motherboard :

GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H

The problem for me is I do not know where to look on the GIGABYTE website to find suitable drivers for my Motherboard.

I was hoping somebody could link me directly to the page required or perhaps give me a quick step by step guide.

Also, if somebody could help me out with this potential BIOS issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time! :)

If you have lower fps problem only, may try
1) monitor the cpu/gpu temp by like HWiNFO64 http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php
2) update all the drivers
intel chipset driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25094/Chipset-Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-for-Intel-NUC , ME https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24499,
Realtek LAN Driver http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
3) Using the DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html to uninstall the nvidia driver in safe mode, then reinstall the driver again.
4) Using CCleaner to clean the registry files. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
5) If you use the...
Chances are the drivers that came with your disk are out of date. So running more updated drivers is not a bad idea. You can find drivers, bios updates and manuals here.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4731#dl

The drivers part is easy, download the latest version and run the program. Easy.

For the bios, look at the bios update descriptions and see if its something you need to worry about. BIOS updates have gotten simpler to do in the last few years but its still one of those things people only do if they need to.

Before doing anything, make sure any data you have that you want to keep is backed up in case something horrible happens. Also read through the user manual and instructions that come with updates to fully understand what you're dealing with.

Thanks for the reply! As for the BIOS update, I notice that the latest on the website appears to be titled F8.

However I do recall checking my BIOS version yesterday and it said F2. At that point in time I though that only meant I had to press F2 when the PC is booting up to bring up the BIOS menu.

However, learning of this F8 version, does that confirm that my BIOS is out of date?

Sorry for potentially sounding stupid. :)

Hi JorMallester, can you tell us what problem you has, also can you post your pc spec too? Also make sure which version MB you had, rev1.1 rev 2.0, or rev3.0? Because your MB rev3.0 has the F2 version BIOS ( the F8 version BIOS is in the rev1.1 MB) , I think you should be fine if you don't use the Pentium G3258 with win10.
In other hand if you use win10 with the Pentium G3258, and you update to the F3 BIOS version, you may lost the ocing feature, because intel updated microcode to block non-Z MB overclocking. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/07/25/intel-overclocking-block/1

Rev1.1 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4731#bios
Rev3.0 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5189#bios

Turns out I have the Rev 3.0 !

Sorry for sounding so silly. :)

At least now I know it is not the BIOS which is causing my FPS issues. If you are still curious about my actual problem, here is a link to my thread which I have foolishly marked as solved :D

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2957042/good-build-bad-fps.html

My next guess would be a reinstalltion of my OS, as some in that thread have suggested.

5) If you use the reguler HDD, make sure you try defragment. ( But not for the SSD woth OS)
6) May chhange the games setting, or disable some of the programs.
7) Reinstall the OS, even try use the win10 because you can free upgrade to win10 from win8.1. But keep in mind after you upgrade to win10 from win7/8.1, and you want to upgrade the MB later, you will need other copy of the windows, because you can't transfer the upgrading win10 into the new MB.
