So I just bought a 4690k, put it in, put my aftermarket cooler on it, and everything is good. Go into the my boards BIOS (MSI CSM-B45-E45), but the core multiplier is grayed out and wont let me change it. What do I do? My G3258 worked fine on the same board.

Solution
Indeed. The G3258 comes with an unlocked multiplier and special features and almost all BIOS and motherboard combinations can overclock it. The BIOS on your B85 board will not allow any other chip to be overclocked by changing the multiplier or voltage.

You need a Z97 board to overclock that chip.

I've already overclocked on this board though.
