Can anyone help me? :AMD Display Driver has stopped and has recovered" has nearly every time I try to play Fallout 4.

System:

AMD FX 8320 (no OC)

Mobo: ASUS M5A97

RAM: 8GB

GPU: HD 7950 3GB (no OC)

PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ certified

OS: Windows 10 (this happened before I upgraded on windows 8.1 but it seems more frequent?..)

Driver: Crimson 16.1 (This has happened on the earlier Crimson drivers as well).

Okay so, typically this happens on fallout 4 and for some reason this seems to be happeneing much more frequently. Almost every time I start Fallout 4 it will crash to desktop with the error "AMD DISPLAY DRIVER HAS STOPPED WORKING AND HAS RECOVERED". Sometimes if I try again the game will initially run without crashing for a while (or a bit, it varies) and then crash with the same error. I play with mods and I have been noticing that when it crashes while playing, it usually occurs in the most performance demanding areas.

However, this error will sometimes occur when just browsing the computer, although rarely. The error never seems to happen on other games. Star Wars Battlefront runs amazingly 90% of time but sometimes it will get a totally different error about how my "graphics card has been physically removed from the system" or some directx error I'm sorry I can't remember. Skyrim runs without crashes and so does KOTOR.

Please help me, I have searched and I once tried a fix on YouTube that involved inputting "TdrDelay" in the Registry Editor and putting a value of 8 or 10 but this only resulted in the error message being replaced "Fallout 4 has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware".

NOT SOLVED! I accidentally gave someone best answer when it didn't help at all. My bad.

If the error with Star Wars Battlefront can be solved along with this error, then I will be very grateful. I will try to run it for a while to get the exact error message to y'all.

Reformatting a computer is always helpful to speed it up anyway, regardless of whether or not it ends up solving your problem.

If it's a software issue, doing a clean install of windows will fix the problem.

If it's a hardware issue....doing a clean install of windows will tell you if it still happens.

(and yeah the PSU is borderline for that gpu)

@jerdle How do I do a clean install of Windows 10 if it's already installed?

And I'll upgrade my PSU as well as I suspected that may be a problem. A 600w is surely enough though?

I did not mean to give you best answer as I have already tried this many times. I have tried uninstalling with DDU and installing other graphics drivers as well, same thing.
