hello i currently have a gaming pc i would like to upgrade
i have a coolermaster power supply 550w or 650 w
msi 7680 socket 775 mobo
2.6 ghz q6600 cpu
gtx 560 ti gainward 1gb
6gb ddr2 ram

i would like to know what would be my best upgrade for perfomace wise thanks !
running on a low budget

If you're having trouble overclocking it then I would recommend a new CPU above anything else. Depending on your budget you could grab a Pentium G3258 (2 core, strong OC), i5 4460 (4 core), i5 4690k (4 core, OC) along with an h97 mobo. If you want more features and lots of OC headroom grab a z97 mobo.

How much can you spend and what kind of games do you play? Also, will you use your pc just for playing games or for something else?

I agree with azca, but i'd go for the R9 380 (it's basically the 380x but not overclocked), so if you need to overclock you can buy a cooler afterwards and just go nuts with it

What's your CPU?

380x has more stream processors and 4GB of VRAM standard; has nothing to do with overclock

The 380 can be bought in it's 4GB variant also, even though you're right about the steam processors. In my opinion, i don't think it's worth it performance wise, but if he has enough money to buy it i guess he should go for it, better to be safe than sorry

Without doing a complete overhaul you could grab an aftermarket cooler and overclock your CPU. The q6600 is a good little processor that will last a long time. You should be able to get around 3.2-3.5Ghz assuming you're comfortable with overclocking. As the previous posters mentioned a gpu can go a long way. The q6600 is a quad core and with overclocking can get you some decent single core performance. I would grab the best cooler than will fit on a 775 socket and in your case (whatever that may be). If you decide to upgrade your GPU, something like a 950 or r7 370 or r9 380 would be viable options. The 560ti isn't a bad card so I would overclock first and see if that relieves your bottleneck first and it is much cheaper than a new GPU.

Please keep in mind this advice is purely based on you overclocking. Without doing so I would recommend a new CPU and Mobo. Even a 980ti isn't going to be showing it's power if your cpu is bottlenecking.

The problem with the q6600 is that it's single core performance is very low even though it is a quad core. CPU bound games will especially take a hit. The 560Ti isn't a bad card either. My Gtx 660 paired with an Fx 8320 @ 1080p gives me 60 fps in WoW at ultra, outside of 25 man raid environments. GTA V is the only AAA game I play, and that's where it's age is noticeable, especially with all the textures up on a 2GB card.
