Need help upgrading graphics card

my current build is:

AMD FX-8350 4 ghz
8 GB ram
geforce gtx 650
600 watt bronze psu

I currently have around 500$ and am looking to upgrade since most of my games have had to be toned way down and most still lag(or wont even play)

Currently wanna play F04 and The division at respectable levels.

$500 buys you a GTX980.

Unless you will be playing on a 1440P monitor, a GTX970 will cost $330 or so and be a big upgrade.

Save the $200 towards a future cpu upgrade.

Of course, FO4 isn't that hard to max out, i'm currently playing it on max settings 1080p, 55-60 fps with my R9 380 4GB, not sure about The Division tho, i've heard the optimization on that game isn't that good but you'll definetely will be close to maxing it out. The 970 is used to play at 1440p so it will be more than enough for 1080p.
