Is 6700k oc 4.6ghz on the safe side?

Hey guys
I did some oc twecking on the 6700k to 4.6 and the core voltage are around 1.290v-1.312v under heavy load. So is that on the safe side of voltage? Or should I go lower? Under heavyload, cpu temps are under 55c. 16c-20c on idle. The only high temps is the gpu which hit 80c.

Any advices and feedback is greatly appreciated.

*edit- sorry just realized Lars highjacked the OPs thread and I was replying to the wrong post.

The OP mentioned his temp problems are more with his GPU, hence why i said to setup a fan curve to make it cooler. I was replying to the OP since this is his thread. Lars to be honest I dont really see much of an issue of your cpu temps hitting 55-60C under heavy load. Your idle temps are great too, its quite normal to hit those temps running a stress test, especially prime95 and Aida, theyre both hot tests. I agree 70C is high but you likely wont hit that in the real world gaming etc. You should have tried just running Realbench or x264. My 6700K idles around 20-23C and hits no higher then 58C under full load and thats at 4.6ghz @ 1.29V...

It is recommended to be below 1.4v one the skylake CPUs so you should be fine.

your gpu temp is a bit hige, but if your temps are from 70-80c you should be good, just dont get over 80 for a long period of time, that can cuase damage to your cards lifetime/lifespan

How are you getting thst low temps? I am getting 70 degrees on aida 64 with cpu and fpu enabled. I have s i7 6700k and a noctua nh-d15.. On battlefield 4 i am getting 58 degrees. And also, my cpu is not overclocked.

I used corsair h105 aio liquid cool. I dont stress test the cpu using aida64 but ran realbench for 1 hours and the temps is fine. The only high temps is the gpu. That due to stock fan speed is very low.

I got 64 degrees in Prime95 version 26,6 small FFT's. Wih aida64 with fpu enabled i got 70 degrees. When playing battlefield 4 i get 58 degrees. I have a stock i7 6700k with a noctua nh-d15. Something is completely wrong i think :/

1. Did you apply thermal compund the right way or did you use to much?

2. Did you screw the cooler on hard enought?

3. Try to reapply thermal compund?

that is what i can think of atm.

I have 6700k myself, but i have a H100i cooler and i am on around 50-60 degrees mark.

I would put. Fan curve on your GPU, keep it below 70. The fan profile on stock is quite light and should be tweaked to keep it cooler. Now that you have to worry at those temps but its always better to keep them lower. I wouldnt want my GPU going above 80. My 980TI never goes above 68 with my fan curve under full load.

You know that my problem is the cpu right? And by the way, i talked to my retailer and they said it was fine to send in the cpu to get a new one. And by the way. The cooler was so "glued" with the thermal paste so when i took it off it happened very fast. Can this cause a problem?

What are your expectations for temps under load? Yours are pretty normal, maybe just a little hot for a stock processor.

I personally think your wasting your time returning the cpu but its your choice! Good luck!

Back to the OP, your running great, good job on the OC.
