Hi everyone,

So 2 days ago I built a new pc,and after putting it together and connecting everything, after turning it on to see everything working, there was no beep and no display. I have been trying everything for the last 2 days and nothing is working to fix this problem. Posting in here is my last hope before I have no option but to take it to a repair shop and pay to get it sorted which I really don't want to do after spending money to build it. Help really would be appreciated!

Oh sorry I should have explained my thinking for the 115-120 volts better ! :) North American power outlets provide 120 volts and Europe provides 230 volts. Voltages vary in other countries, too. Where ever you live, just make sure your...

Hi,my specs are:
•asus p5g41c m lx motherboard
•Kingston fury hyper x 8gb ram (2x4gb) 1600mz
•Intel Q6600 cpu
•HD Radeon 6670
•toshiba 500gb hard drive
•nova tech 500w psu

Also, the motherboard, cpu and gpu were parts i am re-using from my pc before the one I just built so I know they are not the problem

Sorry for the slow reply, having a few tech issues of my own unfortunately.

It looks like all the parts are compatible. Here are a few things I would check in this order.

1) Make sure the power supply is set to 120 or 115 volts which ever option is there.
2) Make sure all power connectors the motherboard requires are connected and seated.

If those are OK try this below

3) There is a little watch battery looking device on the motherboard. Remove the power plug from the power supply and push the case power on button a few times to discharge any built up charge. Carefully remove the watch battery looking device. Wait 30 seconds. Put the watch battery back and reconnect power. This should reset the bios. The watch battery helps hold bios/cmos settings and removing it for 30 seconds will reset them.

Try to boot.

Is the HDD new?

No worries man!

I've already tried resetting the cmos, and I've made sure everything is connected multiple times. How am I meant to set my power supply to them volts?,it says on the back of my power supply 'ac/230v'? Everything on my Psu label to do with volts is over 115-120 volts? And yes,my hard drive is brand new,but I've tried taking my motherboard out of the case and tried starting it with a screwdriver on the pins with only the Psu,cpu and ram connected and still no beep or display

Oh sorry I should have explained my thinking for the 115-120 volts better ! :) North American power outlets provide 120 volts and Europe provides 230 volts. Voltages vary in other countries, too. Where ever you live, just make sure your power supply is set to the correct outlet voltage. I mentioned it because I had my PSU on the wrong setting once, and my computer wouldn't work.

Hm, honestly this is reaching the extend of my pc trouble shooting.

You could put all your old parts back in and see if it works. Then we will know if its the old parts or new parts causing troubles. Then we can start narrowing it down part by part.
Ex: put all old parts back in.

Replace old HDD with new HDD. works or no? Put old HDD back in.
put new gpu in works or no? put old gpu in...etc.

Just start with your original build and start switching parts out until it doesn't work. I know that's not very precise lol. But it will help find the culprit causing the problems! :)

Also, here is a thread I saw, http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems.
