Hi everyone I've had this PC for a while and I primarily use it for games. I recently bought a GTX 980ti to upgrade from my GTX770. The card runs well and I mostly run 1080p with the exception of a few games I run on 1440p, and I've noticed my frames are not quite up to par with some of the benchmarks I see, I was wondering if there may be any kind of bottle-necking or something with my CPU.

I currently run with a i5-3570k and was thinking about upgrading it to something recent.

I have two questions firstly, what would be a decent upgrade to compliment the new GPU and or would it be worth an upgrade would I see a visible difference in performance?

All GPU drivers are up to date and the card is plugged into the correct slot, also no issues with overheating ~55-63 under load.

Current specs: Windows 10, i5-3570k, EVGA 980TI, 600w corsair PSU, 8GB RAM, MSI Z68A-G43.

Thank you.

in real world the newer skylakes are slighty faster then the older sandy bridge chips. the biggest boost to gaming rig is your going to be using the newest intel chipset and ddr4 ram. the newer chipset are a lot faster then the older ones when using ssd as boot drives and windows 10. the newer mb will let you drop in a newer intel cpu if the curby lake and next gen cpu are for the 1151 pin mb.
