I had a Qnix die on me. So I'm not really looking for another overclocking/gamble experience, but the best deal I can get on a reputable manufacturer's 2560x1440 144hz monitor.

I don't care about response time or physical size. Obviously I'd love G Sync but I don't think that can be had for the prices I'm looking at (ideally $300 or $400 max). Used/refurb/open box is totally fine, but ideally will have some warranty.

If I can't find anything under $400 or so I'm going to probably end up going for either a regular 60hz one, or a 4k monitor I've got my eyes on which is $270. But I have a feeling 4k will be a bit of a bummer since I only run one 970.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Do you think I'd be biting myself in the ass if I didn't just pony up the extra $100 for G Sync? :s

It depends on your video card. If it's powerful enough to maintain high fps with vsync enabled then g-sync is not absolutely necessary. If you play games at high settings that dip into lower fps then g-sync can noticeably smooth things out. Nukemaster provides some great info on this. Give it a quick read here-
