Hello everyone.

I am going to purchase a laptop within the next month and am very confused as to what to buy.
I have finally shortlisted two laptops: rMBP 15 and XPS 15 (4k).

I am a student studying Computer Science, so I would need to type and code a lot. I will not be gaming on my machine as I have a PS4 for that.

I do not even need a high end processor like the i7 6700hq or a graphics card like GTX 970m since I will not be doing any video rendering or photo editing or stuff like that.

My primary concern is Display. I want a bright, sharp and crisp display (something more than 1080p and at least 14 inch size) and also a good build quality (as I will be using it for at least 4 years).

I have also heard that Macs are long lasting and experience less failures and slow downs as compared to PCs.

Please suggest between the two or any other alternative you feel suitable (must be a 4K display :p).
Thanks.

BTW Operating System is not a concern since I have used both a Windows and a Mac and am comfortable with both.

4k display on less than 30 inches is bullshit mate. Writing code in higher resolution won't feel better, trust me. I prefer doing so in 1366x786 rather than in 1080p on my 15.6 laptop. Both are premium quality laptops and both will do a great job, if you are going to develop on java/c/c++/c# then I would suggest a dell with windows, however for web developing like php, css, javascript I've found the mac osx to be more suitable.

You may want to contact the school and get the recommended laptop to get for a computer science student. They will give you the specs needed at least.
