For my new pc I'm going to hopefully be building one day soon, id like to add an old laptop as a wifi to ethernet bridge which also would double as a small firewall. Basically id connect a usb wifi adaptor to the laptop(yes I could just plug it into the new pc but id perfer to have a seperate firewall) than an ethernet from the port on the laptop to the new pc. I belive this is possible but I don't think the laptop has enough power 1.06ghz celeron 128mb ram and 20gb harddrive. It currently has no os. Is there a linux distro out there that may work or should I just set it up with windows and bridge it there? Or should I just scrap the idea? I tend to dream to much, about these things.

I've used IP-Cop and IP Fire for the past 10+ years. Fire is very good, installs on almost anything (I've had it running on a Raspberry Pi) and is reliable. My company supports Fire-based installs (we have a rang of mods that go on top of it) and have always been impressed with the base product.
