What is the difference between an Intel i7 and Intel Xeon??? And which one would be best for architecture design?

I'm very new in this computer field, but sounds like i7 is less complicated. Am I correct?
Maybe a bit more convenient for a novice like me.

You don't have to know more to use a Xeon, as stated they're basically the same chips just modified since Xeons are more targeted at the server market. If your board supports it, you install it like an i7 or any other chip that supports that socket and board.
