Is a boot-corrupted SATA still usable?

My SATA HDD has NTLDR Missing error. It didn't get fixed by any of the fixes. Would it still work as a non-boot drive?

There's no secondary SATA output I can use in my PC and I don't want to buy a kit to make it into a USB drive unless I know.

The trouble happened when I ran a system defrag. The PC restarted but the BIOS was set to boot from optical, then USB, then HDD. I had a non-boot flash drive plugged in and the boot-up stalled.

I tried bootrec.exe in MSDOS but no go.
