Replacing PSU, Good Idea or Not?

I finally built my first PC (yay!). That being said... it was more of a transplant than a build, considering I kept the CPU, the PSU (not stock though), and the HDD. I am looking to replace my old loud Antec HCG 900W PSU with a fully modular PSU to improve air flow and reduce noise (I HATE that my PSU isn't modular, my case has little room for cable management). My dad bought the Antec PSU about 4-5 years ago. He claims he got it for $300, so I'm thinking that he either is misremembering or he got ripped off. My question is twofold, this is the PSU I'm interested in:

Corsair RM650 (it links to 850)
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-RM850-Modular-Supply-Certified/dp/B00EB7UIXM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454344576&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+psu

Are Antec PSUs significantly higher quality than Corsairs? Because my current PSU fetches a fair price on amazon, a little over $100. If I can sell it AND get a better PSU while MAKING some cash, that seems like a good deal. I can use the extra cash to save up for a Samsung EVO 500GB SSD and my build would be complete. This PSU looks very nice, being fully modular AND the fan doesn't even turn on unless it's over 40% load. These are my specs:

Corsair Spec 01 Case
Intel i7 2600 (Sandy Bridge)
ASUS P8H61-M LE 2.0 mojo
16 GB Ballistic Sports DDR3 RAM
MSI GTX 970 GPU (not overclocked)
OEM Hitachi 2TB HDD
Antec HCG 900W
Noctua NHUS9 CPU Cooler (its something like that)
1 Noctua 120mm fan rear exhaust
1 Noctua 140mm fan intake CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO PSU (don't remember exact model numbers)

So my 2nd question, 650W should be more than enough to power this right?

This is the link to my current PSU if anyone is curious:

Ok I looked up the difference between the gold and platinum and to my knowledge it seems so minimal that it shouldn't be a factor. That GQ PSU from newegg that SR-71 linked seems good enough. It's semi-modular so I'm assuming that means the only cables perma-attached to it are the main mobo connector and... the CPU plug? Either way seems good enough. Keeping noise low is a big thing for me and I think that GQ model does a decent job. 5 year warranty too.

What is a typical system load during idle/gaming? 20%-80%?
