Greetings Community!

I am putting together a workstation (it will not be used for gaming, for I don't game), and am interested in a smaller form factor. The two boards that I am looking at are the ASUS X99-M WS mATX, and the ASRock X99E-ITX. Both seem fully featured for my needs, and the only real differences I can see is the ASUS board is WS rated, can handle multiple graphics cards (which I don't plan on really needing) and can carry more RAM (which is enticing, but I can still get away with 32GB of RAM with the ASRock board..which is still a ton and should hold me over for a few years!).

I would like to create a machine that is elegant and small, so I am leaning toward the ASRock, but would really like to know if there is more to consider between these two boards. My question is if there is something I am not seeing, or if there is anyone with experience with these boards that can help me make an informed decision?

The setup I am considering is this:

- Intel Xeon E5-1650 V3 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
- ASRock X99E-ITX/ac Mini ITX LGA2011-3 or ASUS X99-M WS mATX motherboard
- Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16 or 4x8 depending on mobo)
- NVIDIA Quadro M4000 8GB Video Card
- Silverstone 500W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply
- Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
- Lian-Li PC-05SX or PC-O6SX (depending on mobo choice)
- Maybe an LED strip or two
- Wireless Keyboard and Mouse (not yet selected)

Thank you!

one thought for the extra pcie slot is for a future pcie ssd. or perhaps some other add-on card that will need that slot in the future. other than more ram, this is about all i can think of for the asus mobo over the asrock one

Hmmm...Good point. I hadn't considered that type of possible expansion. Off to do a little more research! :)
