My modem has one Ethernet port, which is currently connected to a switch, which is then connected to my family's computers. I want to install a router, but there aren't enough ports in the switch, and there also isn't enough room near the switch to put in the router. Would it be possible to plug the single Ethernet port from the modem into the router, then plug the switch into the router and still retain functionality?
