Need Help With Side Fan Please

So I was thinking about installing a side fan on my Antec Gx500 and was planning to get a 120mm dust filter to go with it. But today as I tried to install without one, I found that none of my screws could work because the insides of the fans screw holes and the inside of the mounting holes on the side panel were smooth. I tried two fans, one of the fans that came with the case, and a cooler master fan. Looking for any advice for this. Thanks.

Solution
I use a #10 sheet metal screw to tap (make threads) in the fan mounting holes before using the supplied fan mounting screws to actually mount the fans. The supplied fan mounting screws are extremely difficult to screw into the fan mounting holes unless this process is done. The mounting holes in the case panel are not intended to be threaded but for the mounting screws to just slip through to the fan on the other side.

With some fans you have to make the threads in the fan's holes with the included screws. Look at the screws that came with the fan, they should have a special tip on them that will allow you to screw it into the fan holes even though there aren't any threads.

The screws that came with the cooler master fans just slide right in... But my there is one screw that came with my case that looks like a perfect fit. Although it cant screw in because its tight as hell. But when you said I can screw it in without threads do you mean I gotta force it in?

@delroymonjo With the #10 sheet metal screw, do you have to use a drill or just a screw driver? Sorry if that's a dumb question, still new to these things. I will definitely go to the hardware store and get one though.

You shouldn't have to use a drill. I recently got a fan from cooler master that came with a set of self-tapping screws that took a little bit of force to screw in but they weren't that difficult.

Actually, make that a #6 or #8 sheet metal screw with a .14" to .16" diameter.
You can buy a sheet metal screw at a hardware store. You only need 1, it's not used for the mount itself. Just screw it into the fan mounting holes to a depth of about 3/8 inch and then back it out. This simply makes it easier to get the fan supplied screws started. so you don't have to use brute force.
