Is it normal for an mSATA card to get extremely hot while in use? (not so hot that you'll burn yourself, but hot enough that it would be uncomfortable to leave your fingers on it)

I was going to put an mSATA (or just a regular SSD) into an external enclosure, but noticed that the one I have (which is actually a Samsung m.2 SATA card) gets quite hot when in use, and I'm concerned about heat issues (it would be going into an aluminum enclosure with some air holes for ventilation, but no fan).

Will this be an issue? I'd normally use a HDD but this will be for when I travel, and I figured an SSD would be faster and more rugged/durable over time.

Solution
So here is what I would do, I would benchmark the drive outside the enclosure a few times back to back then put it in the enclosure and bench it back to back a few times and see if the performance drops or stays the same as it was outside the enclosure. This should allow you to know if it is thermally throttling.

I'll have to check the model number. It's a 240GB Samsung (OEM) M2 SATA drive that was removed from a notebook for an upgrade, so I want to repurpose it in an external enclosure or in another system at some point.
