My brother is looking to build a budget rig, and he wants to play games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Garry's Mod etc. He doesn't have the money right now, but he is pretty positive about saving to around £400 - £600.

There is no specific piece of hardware I'm looking for, just something that can handle his requirements.
He said he would prefer not have to deal with the hassle to build it, and neither do I, so if there are any good reputable system builders that ship to the UK you are aware of and have good budget systems, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

No. Most likely you aren't going to bump into a R9 380X and a Haswell i5 with a good Delta PSU (this is an Asus prebuilt). Just build it. It's worth the hassle. Oh, and also, you may run into some trash PSU that would burn up the £400-£600 that your brother will save up.

Gotta say, though. Love the PSU selections you guys get. Those Antec and Super Flower stuff you guys have are awesome. The US never sees them.

What parts do you need?

Motherboard
Processor
Power Supply
RAM
Graphics Card
Case
Fans
CPU Cooler
Operating System
Monitor
Speakers
Headphones
Hard Drive (SSD?)
Optical Drive

Is there anything else important in the build other than being able to play games?

I need everything, and a ssd as well as a hdd for games would be perfect. Also need an optical drive, thanks.

EDIT: Don't need a monitor.

This build takes you over £600 by about £30 but that gets you an SSD, OS & Optical drive: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/8DpJYJ

The only thing missing is monitor & speakers. The cooling that comes with it should be sufficient as long as no OC. If you want monitor, speakers & mouse + keyboard you are going to have to sacrifice some gaming performance or get some second hand parts. You may get some of the components cheaper if you shop around or look for deals.

There is no need for a mouse and keyboard, as I have a few spare ones lying around, but the keyboards are membrane, but that should be fine for the time being. For the monitor, I'm using 2x 144hz AOC g2460s so I'll let him use one of mine until he gets his hands on his own monitor.
