The one question most people are going to ask is what power supply do you currently have?

Off hand assuming the PSU is a solid unit, I'm sure what most people will recommend will be to upgrade to an Intel system, probably an I3-6100 since it offers a good upgrade path and the single core performance blows AMD out of the water

Thank you for answering me, sound pretty good and i could afford that. Think I'll need a new case to fit them in?
The one i have now is Galaxy 3
The only one i could find of it : http://www.amazon.co.uk/GALAXY-BLACK-GAMING-DESKTOP-COMPUTER/dp/B00C97FLLK

I'm going balls out with a completely opposite recommendation type.

You still never mentioned your PSU model ??

The case supports either microATX or ATX, no problem. You may need to upgrade your PSU as well unless you have a good quality 500 plus watt. If it's not in the budget, you could drop back to the i3 6100, which as stated above, is a strong performer and has hyper threading.

Thanks for your reply, what would you say would be the main difference? I play Mainly Strategy games like Total War and Heard they need different things to work smoother.

also ii think my psu is a atx 12v model 750ub, that what it says on the side. Will that be good enough?

That's a cit PSU - its pretty crappy in all honesty mate

With relation to you being a strategy gamer then absolutely go with an Intel i5 as suggested.
My recommendation was based solely around a quick upgrade aimed at high graphical quality on fast moving games.
Not so important with your type of gaming.

What I would suggest honestly

Stronger CPU, better board , new PSU - I wouldn't trust that cit you have with £250 worth of CPU/mb.
Assuming you have 8gb of decent speed ram already ?? which will carry over to this build.

You don't have the budget for a worthwhile upgrade IMO - the 380 suggested isn't a big enough jump in performance to warrant a purchase.

Bear in mind going to Intel will necessitate a full system format & reinstall of windows (if you have an oem copy of windows you may have to repurchase )

Ah okay, how much more money do you think i'd need to spend to get and upgrade that would make it worth it?

I have windows and ram already so that should all be fine.

Thank you for all your help, sorry if i'm making it difficult.

worded it wrong mate I meant you dont have a big enough budget to upgrade the gpu - the 270 is still afairly solid mid-range card - for a worthwhile upgrade on the gpu front you have to go up 2 tiers really & that means a gtx 970 or a r9 390 - theyre both 230 quid +.

the i5 will make a huge difference to performance in strategy type games - stuff lie total war & the civ series are massively single thread speed dependant.

If i go for your first suggestion the

CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£166.53 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock H170 Pro4/D3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£73.92 @ More Computers)
Power Supply: Super Flower Golden Green HX 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (£63.48 @ More Computers)
Total: £303.93

And then if i can get money later to upgrade my Card too later would you suggets that? or just do it all together?

Is the CPU difference actually worth it?

the i5-6500 skylake puts you on the latest socket for around 20 quid more & is a stronger cpu than both the haswell 4460 & i5-6400 - Id personally say its worth it yes.

gpu's are not great prices at the minute & as I said the 270x is still a fairly decent mid range card so yes imo It makes sense to wait for prices to drop on gpu's or a really good deal to appear somewhere.
