AMD FX-8350 vs. 8370

Solution
They're the exact same cpu except one has a higher overclock out of the box. Go for the 8350 because its cheaper and can still overclock just as high as the 8370, also sine they're the same chip they're both great for sli since there wont be any bottlenecks!

Okay, thanks. And how exactly would you overclock this CPU? I've never done it before, and you seem to know how it works.

Thanks!

In the bios of the computer once you've built it, theres many videos on it but basically open bios by pressing del key or f11 i think. then change the base clock multiplier til you're stable. if you overclock too high the computer will crash, dont worry this isnt a big deal, just back off the clock speed and try again until its stable!

8370 are the better binned versions of the 8350, just like 8320's are the worse binned versions of the 8350
they are generally a slight improvement so you should be able to clock them a bit higher, they are also clocked out of the factory at a higher voltage. It's hard to say how much of a noticeable improvement you will get with the 8370 but there's a reason it's a bit more expensive

This is not the correct way of overclocking and you obviously have never overclocked successfully before. There is a in depth list of options and settings that must be tweaked as to not "starve" the CPU for power and not blow it up with voltage. Overclocking is not for the faint at heart or the daft.

Im not going to bother your topic too much. I just want to ask you what graphics card you would prefer to sli? Because if they are around r9 290x/gtx 970 performance i would stay away from the fx chips, no offence to amd bois, im one myself.
I do regret i bought this chip because of bottlenecks in alot of situations. Im running two r9 290x's atm and im soon upgrading to an i7 5820k because of this, a lower end i7 or even i5 would better. Im just posting this reply as a little heads up.

I have a MSI 970 GAMING mobo that does support SLI, don't know if it let's me overclock, if not it's not a huge deal.

If you know anything about it please let me know.

Thanks!

Ooooohh, okay. So if I were to, in the future, overclock the 8350 to let's say, 4.5 to 4.7 GHz with a RM750x PSU, would I be in the clear?

yes you should be all good, make sure to watch many tutorials because overclocking isnt as simple as it might seem. be sure to keep the voltages in check and be sure to watch your temps

I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo with 2 Corsair AF 120 mm Red LED fans on either side blowing towards the back of my case for optimal rear exhaust.
And if I were to add on another GTX 960 to the one I already have, would a FX-8350 keep up with the two cards? Or would I have to overclock it?

hmm, it might fall a little behind a tiny bit with the dual 960 setup, but it sounds like you're gonna overclock it anyways, right? :p overclocked it will keep up for sure and be a pretty good system. The 212 evo is a great cooler to overclock that cpu with. You have all the right equipment to overclock it with. The process of overclocking requires a little bit of patience and more than just adjusting voltages and clock speeds. You need to stress test your CPU every time you increase the voltage and the clock speed to check if the computer is stable. This can be done with multiple programs, but the main one people use is called prime95.

Not all chips are created equal, so some can clock as high as 5.0ghz or higher, and some can't go nearly that high. If you're lucky you will have gotten a great chip which can overclock higher.
Luckily the fx-8350 is a chip which is designed to overclock. It can be done through your BIOS, or through a program called AMD overdrive. (I recommend doing it through BIOS) Overdrive is good if you only plan on doing a small overclock (perhaps raising it 0.3 ghz or less)
Here are some tutorials from Toms on the basics of overclocking.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-overclock-athlon,2161.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2103175/bios-overclocking-beginners.html
I would highly advise you to read up on it, watch some video tutorials perhaps on youtube, before you dive into it, but it's a relatively easy procedure with the chip you have :D
