I have searched the forum but could not find my particular problem. I left my pc running in a game for 1 hour. I came back to see a black screen saying select a proper boot device. My gigabyte MB's Bios does not see my Sandisk SSD now. But it does see my optical drive. I can only figure its smoked. I built this PC one year ago. Any help would be appreciated..

Welcome to the community, nimrod3316!

This really seems unfortunate. If you have the Windows installation media, I'd suggest you try booting from it into the OS. Once there, you can check if the SSD is recognized anywhere. However, make sure you have set the boot order right.
I'd also give the BIOS reset a try as well. It would get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so you might need to reconfigure them afterwards.
If you have access to another computer, I'd suggest you connect the SSD there and see if it will get detected. I guess I'd also try plugging it with a different SATA cable and a different SATA port on your mobo, to check if you'd be able to boot from the solid-state drive.

Hope it helps. Good luck!

SuperSoph_WD Not to familiar with forums!!! so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right!!! I borrowed a working hard drive plugged it into the sata 0 and nothing! I plugged my optical into sata 0 and it was recognized! What I failed to mention was I replaced my 750 Corsair psu because my pc would shut down after 10 minutes and also making a loud noise! I replaced it with a Thermaltake 850 which had of coure the normal 24 pin and 6 pin for the MB! PCIE etc but what was different was the female plugs for the HD and optic drive! They were both similar male ends but on the Thermoltake PSU two female plugs were labled (2)femals: 4 pin perriferal and floppy power! (2) females SATA power! Oviously I plugged the optic into the floppy power and my original SSD into the SATA power! Then it worked and I was back gaming! Thats when I left for a bit only to come back to the black screen as mentioned above!

I come to beleive that the two PSU are kapoots!!! Yea by the way I removed my SSD from SATA power after this began and plugged it into the floppy power!! Poof!! Think I smoked a perfectly good SSD.

My next step is to replace the T-Take with the Corsair and plug both HD in separately just to see if It will see them.

Thank you for your time
