Because, until Pascal, it's the best GPU you can get for that price. It's powerful, it has plenty of Vram and in game is pretty much on-par with a GTX980, which is more expensive. It's pretty much the new performance/price King.

Ah! That's a different story. (Hello from Montreal, btw). I got my EVGA GTX970 SC ACX 2.0 for 394,99CAD when it went on sale, but that would mean waiting a bit. Right now the cheapest 970 I see is at 413.50 on Vuugo, a Zotac model. The 390 and 390x are both over that price from what I see and the 970 offers some nice SLI options without a crazy high TDP.

Well I know a lot of people, like me, will be selling cards from the 900 series on sites like Ebay or Craigslist. You could also just get a card from that new Pascal line-up, which should be a big improvement on the ones we have now.

Honestly, the difference is minimal both in price and performance. I'd opt for the 390 over the 390X, because the difference is almost always between 1-5 fps. The 390X is basically just a factory overclocked 290X with a higher price tag.

The noise should be roughly the same, I can hardly see that card make more noise than 2 7850s. It should run cooler, since it doesn't have 2 GPUs anymore. As for the increase... It will mostly depend on the game, but you will surely be seeing an improvement and a reduction of artifacts, if you every had any.

With pricing being what it is, I have finally decided to go with the Asus Geforce Gtx970 Strix! should arrive this week. Anyone have experience with this card?
